Your path to our agency and your current role in the agency?

My family has been good friends with the Jackson family for many years. Fun fact: I grew up next to Jen and babysat her kids! When I needed a job in high school, they took me on for part-time reception duties in our old Plainwell office. We parted ways when I was in college. I fell in love with insurance when I was there, so after college graduation, I wanted to get back into insurance. I was applying to the insurance companies but did not have enough experience to qualify. Because our families were close, Jen caught wind and hired me as an Account Manager, which is a customer service role. I transferred into personal lines sales in 2015, and now manage our high-value personal lines insurance clients, as a Private Client Account Executive.

What do you like about Ron Jackson Insurance Agency?

There are many things to like about our agency! First, our building – the Jackson’s completely gutted it and had it designed with Intersect Studios. It complements our vision for who we are and sets the tone for where we want to go in the future.

We have numerous culture-building events, like celebrating everyone’s birthday, as a team. We have what we call Dippy Thursday – someone brings a dip or a treat for the office each Thursday. We have company parties throughout the year, we celebrate baseball opening day, we spend a lot of time together at the Kzoo Growler’s games, and the list goes on! Quotes for a cause: we donate a minimum of $1,000 to a local non-profit each month.

What do you like about being an insurance agent?

What fulfills me the most is sitting down for a review with a customer. Hashing out what they own and how they use everything and discussing what they would want to happen on their worst day. It’s a lightbulb moment where they understand the “why” behind the insurance program they have, and why it’s important to have an agent to represent and guide them through. Insurance is highly commoditized these days, so the lightbulb moment where the customer understands the value their insurance brings is my favorite part of this career.

Tell us about your family, home life, and what you like to do with your free time.

We have a blended family of seven – yes, you read that right – four girls and a boy. Our house is loud and chaotic most of the time, but usually, all the noise is laughter and love! All of them play sports, so our schedule is hectic but fun! In the summer, you will find us at our pool or at one of our family’s houses on Pine and Gull Lake.
